What better way to get back to winning ways on home turf than against a side who have yet to win on the road in the league this season?

Roy Keane's Sunderland will arrive at Anfield with a record of no wins and 10 defeats from 12 Premier League away trips and so there will be no better opportunity than against the Black Cats for Liverpool to get that much-needed league win in front of the Kop.

But then, that has been the case on a number of occasions this season for Rafael Benitez and his side.

Six draws from 11 home matches is not championship winning form and when you consider some of those dropped points have come against strugglers Birmingham City and Wigan, the clash with Sunderland will be by no means a certain triumph.

The last time the Black Cats came to Anfield was back in August 2005, when Xabi Alonso's free-kick gave the hosts a narrow 1-0 victory.

The home faithful will be hoping for an improved performance from that day, but will no doubt make-do with a scrappy victory as long as Liverpool pick up the points.
