min : Luton get the game underway attacking the Kop end
min : Congratulations to Jamie C on his 500th appearance for the Reds
mins : Liverpool have begun brightly and are already stretching the Luton defence
mins : Alonso fires the first effort of the match over the bar after Stevie G threatened to go all the way. Great tackle by Reds old boy Don Hutchison though
mins : A superb hanging cross from the right from Pennant finds Crouch at the far post, but the big man steers his header inches wide
mins : Carra stops Talbot in his tracks with a typically well timed challenge. Some things never change
mins : A lightning break results in Stevie G picking out Babel, but his curling effort from 20 yards crashes back off the post
mins : Another cross from Pennant finds Crouch on the edge of the dee but his volley is fired straight at Brill
mins : Another half chance falls Crouchie's way but his volley is defelcted over the bar - although the referee decides it's a goal-kick
mins : The Luton faithful are cheering every defensive clearance. They nearly choked on their chants there though, as Torres fires over after ghosting in from the right hand side of the box
mins : Rafa's been out the dugout offering some advice to JAR
mins : Pennant's crosses are causing chaos in the Luton defence and Liverpool would have taken the lead then but Babel's goalbound effort is deflected wide
mins : Another attempt for Liverpool. This time Stevie G finds Crouch on the edge of the area but he volleys into the turf under pressure
mins : A rare attack for Luton sees Currie fire well wide of Itandje's goal
mins : Crouch heads down for Tores but some courageous Luton defending keeps El Nino at bay
mins : Hutchison slices a clearance out for a corner - it could have gone anywhere. An own goal on his Anfield return! What a nightmare that would have been
mins : It's been one way traffic so far tonight. How long before the Reds get the goal they deserve?
mins : Babel brings down Talbot as the Hatters forward breaks from the halfway line. The young Dutchman was lucky to escape a caution there
mins : Talbot's still down receiving treatment
mins : Play has been halted. But he's up now and Luton will get play underway again
mins : Gerrard nearly feeds Babel in the inside left channel but Goodall just about keeps him at bay with a last-ditch tackle
mins : Luton boss Kevin Blackwell must be delighted that it is still 0-0 after 30 minutes. They've had to ride their luck at times though
mins : Arbeloa raids down the right but his low ball in is mis-kicked by Crouch straight into the grateful Brill's arms
mins : A great block by Hutchison stops a 25-yard Ryan Babel rocket from testing Brill
mins : It's a comedy of errors in the box as Riise's low ball is fired over the bar following an error by a Luton defender
mins : Well Rafa won't be the only person inside Anfield scratching his head in surprise if this remains goalless at the interval
mins : A series of JAR long throws cause panic in the away side's box but once again Liverpool fail to capitalise on mis-hit clearances
mins : Torres holds off one challenge to get a shot in but once again a Luton shirt is in the way and the visitors clear
mins : There will be a minimum of one minute added time.

mins : The Reds have made a fast start to the half and look keen to wrap up the tie as soon as possible
mins : Pennant's crossing has been quite superb tonight and another whipped ball in from the right touchline finds Crouch but he fails to get a clean header away under pressure from Hutchison
mins : Luton must have felt it was job done on 44 minutes but at this level you can't switch off for a minute. Liverpool deserve the lead and could easily be out of sight by now
mins : GOAL! Steven Gerrard:
mins : Crouch has been down after colliding with the post. Thankfully he's back on now after a minute or two of treatment
mins : GOAL! Sami Hyypia:

mins : GOAL! Steven Gerrard:

mins : The Hatters are well and truly beaten now. Their fans are singing 'we want one.' They know it's all over.
mins : It looks like Stevie is setting up his own personal duel with Torres. That's 15 for the season for our skipper now - and he gets the match ball
mins : The attendance tonight is 41,446
mins : They've all been treated to a second-half goal fest
mins : So who will it be in round four? Swansea or Havant and Waterlooville. We find out tomorrow
mins : It should be six. Kuyt has just headed inches wide after another great ball in from Pennant
mins : Well it doesn't look like Carra is going to get that goal to cap the night - but he'd probably be happier with the clean sheet anyway
mins : Well we can finally celebrate our first win of 2008. Let's hope we can go on from here
mins : There will be a minimum of two minutes added time
